1 lb frozen strawberries
3/4 cup sugar divided
2 tbsp lemon or orange juice
1 2/3 cup milk (2 or 4 percent)
4 cups low fat or non fat vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup heavy cream
Place strawberries in a bowl with 1/4 cup sugar and lemon or orange juice. Break up the strawberries with a fork or knife into 2 or 3 pieces and let sit for 1/2 hour.
Meanwhile place the milk in a bowl and add the remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Stir until dissolved. Add the yogurt and heavy cream and stir until combined. Pour into the ice cream maker and process for about 20 minutes. Add the strawberries and mix for another 10 minutes.
If the mixture is too soft for your taste, place in freezer for 2 hours or overnight.
