Pears!

Join us as we celebrate the week of the Pear!  I wanted to take the time to highlight just one more fruit that I feel is slightly under appreciated.  I am referring to the humble pear.  This unassuming fruit is actually my secret weapon.  I have had the opportunity to host many a meal and other gatherings in my home, and I always find an “apple crisp- or crumble ) to be the first thing to be finished.  Its aromatic as well as extremely tasty.  But the secret ingredient that sets my crumble apart ,  is the pears.  Next time you make an apple dessert, try substituting half the apples with pears.  Follow the rest of the recipes the same way, and don’t tell anyone.  See if they can make out the difference.  I often find I need less sugar, as the pears themselves are so sweet.  So now that you know my secret, bake away, and let us know what you think!

We'll start with an all new delicious recipe from Daphna Rabinovitch that is a sure hit:

Pear Coffee Cake with Cardamom and Streusel

Pan Roasted Pear and Goat Cheese Salad

Date and Apple Strudel see, i snuck pears in this recipe too

Pear Cranberry Crumble with a Chocolate Surprise

Beef Medallion Pear Tarts

Caramelized Pear Spinach Salad with Pomegranate and Pecans

Squash Pear Soup
